Stormwater Management Roadmap and CMPs

Catchment Management Planning

Urban catchment management planning is an effective way of co-ordinating efforts to address multiple stormwater issues, i.e. flood management, freshwater management, aquatic habitat management and amenity values within urban stormwater catchments.

Catchment management plans will help NPDC and communities identify integrated solutions to resolve existing issues, and avoid or minimise risk for future issues.

Although the focus of this strategy and the catchment management plans will be on the urban areas, the catchments may have considered effects on upstream and downstream rural areas.

As part of the Waitara Stormwater Programme, NPDC is producing catchment management plans. This work is expected to be available for public consultation in 2024 and will be funded from NPDC Operational budget.
