Tukapa Street road surface rebuild

The surface of Tukapa Street will be rebuilt between Dartmoor Avenue and Maratahu Street from mid-January to early February, due to the poor quality of the road surface.

The project includes removing the roundabout at the Tukapa/Sanders roundabout to enable underground infrastructure to be laid. It will be replaced by a temporary roundabout, which could be in place for a few years while NPDC investigates options for managing traffic through this intersection.

Access to businesses and residential properties will be unchanged during the road closures.

The bulk of the work will be finished before schools return for the new school year but there will still be some disruption at the Tukapa/Sanders intersection, so we encourage parents and caregivers travelling to Westown School to instead use Clawton Street for the first couple of days of the term.
