High rainfall has caused an overflow from the Inglewood oxidation ponds into the Kurapete Stream.
This is a consented discharge of partially treated wastewater, which started at 3.30am today and is ongoing. NPDC is monitoring the discharge.
As a precaution, warning signs against swimming will be in place at the Everett Park entrance and the main swimming hole until 48 hours after the discharge has ceased.
