NPDC attracting more big names to New Plymouth
It’s been a great week for NPDC event venues with Aussie music legends Midnight Oil and British comedian Jimmy Carr two of the big names announcing they’re heading our way.
Earlier this week the Beds Are Burning performers announced they will play their last ever show on our shores at NPDC’s TSB Stadium on 8 September as part of their ‘Resist: The Final Tour’ with tickets going on sale Thursday 23 June at 11am.
When asked who his dream act to book is, NPDC Head of Major Events Neil Fenwick doesn’t hesitate to name Midnight Oil as being right up there.
“It’s been a work in progress, I’ve been working alongside the promoter to secure this deal for over a year and a strong factor in our favour is the reputation our NPDC Venue team has gained amongst promoters, both here and in Australia.”
Meanwhile, British funny man Jimmy Carr will be returning to NPDC’s TSB Showplace on 11 January as part of his Terribly Funny tour of New Zealand.
The star of the UK’s most streamed Netflix comedy special of 2021 is back on the road with brand new material for 2023 and tickets for his New Plymouth show go on sale Monday 27 June at 9am.
“It’s pretty special that we’re the first stop of Jimmy’s NZ tour and we’re delighted to welcome him back. It’s fantastic to have another international act coming to the region over summer, the perfect opportunity to take visiting friends or whānau out for dinner in our city centre, followed by a night of laughs with a world-class entertainer,” says Teresa Turner, NPDC’s Group Manager, Community and Customer Services.
Music, comedy, dance or theatre, there is plenty to look forward to at our venues over the next 12 months including:
