Temporary Closure

Todd Energy Aquatic Centre’s indoor pool space, including the sauna and steam rooms will be closed from 17 March and will reopen 14 June 2025 to upgrade the ventilation system.

The outdoor pools will now be open until 30 May and community pools at Fitzroy, Waitara, Inglewood, Ōkato will also be open until 30 March.

The planned upgrade includes replacing the current ventilation system with a new, more efficient unit as the current system if at the end of it’s operational life. The refurbishment will set up Todd Energy Aquatic Centre for another 20 years of improved air circulation and reduced condensation, encouraging a better visitor experience.

Please note: The family changing rooms, fitness centre, and café will be operating as usual. Programmes including classes, squad training, and Learn to Swim will continue. When booking in you will be informed of up to date details.

Child safety ratios

We have child safety ratios in place to keep everyone safe. Children under the age of eight must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or over and children under the age of two must be always within arm’s reach of a caregiver 16 years and over.

Active supervision means always watching your child and being able to provide immediate assistance. 

Ratios

Ratios apply 10.30am - 4.30pm on weekends, public holidays and during school holidays.

  • Children under eight years old must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years old or over.
  • Children under two years old must be within arm's reach of a caregiver 16 years old or over.
  • For every child under two years old, there must be a caregiver 16 years old or over with them at all times.
  • Two to five-year-olds must have one caregiver 16 years old or over for every two children.
