Whether she’s greeting you with her big smile or bouncing around with excitement about literally anything happening around her, Sydney’s enthusiasm is contagious. This girl wants nothing more than to be by your side, soaking up all the attention and love you can offer.
  • Sydney is a smart cookie who already knows all her basic manners — a very good girl through and through. She’s also known to be stock-proof, making her a great fit for lifestyle blocks or rural homes. Because she lives life at full brightness, Sydney will need a home that can give her plenty of attention, exercise, adventures, and mental stimulation to keep that happy tail wagging. She would be the perfect companion for an active person or family who wants a loyal, joyful dog to join them on all their outings.

Layla

  • Layla arrived at the pound absolutely terrified, unsure of people, new places, and even simple daily routines. But with time, patience, and gentle reassurance, this sweet girl has slowly begun to come out of her shell. Every week she shows us a little more of who she truly is — a kind, affectionate, and deeply loving dog who wants so badly to trust.
  • Layla has clearly had a difficult start to life, so she’ll need an owner who understands that progress comes in small steps. Once she feels safe, she leans into you with her whole heart and shows just how much love she has to give. She’s one of those special dogs who will bond deeply with the person who makes her feel secure.
  • Layla is at her most confident when she has another dog by her side. A calm, friendly dog in her new home would be a huge help in guiding her, showing her that the world isn’t so scary, and giving her the extra reassurance she needs. She’ll benefit from continued training, consistent routines, and plenty of adventures and exercise to help build her confidence and bring out her playful side.

Once they feel safe, they become loving little shadows who are eager to be close, soak up cuddles, and share their gentle personalities.
  • As growing puppies, River and Rain will need families committed to giving them the training, routine, and socialisation every youngster needs to thrive. They are smart, sensitive girls who will blossom with positive reinforcement and patient guidance.
  • These pups will also require plenty of daily exercise as they mature — think walks, playtime, enrichment, and adventures to burn energy and build confidence. If you’re looking for a pair of sweet, soulful pups who just want love, structure, and a chance to grow into their best selves, River and Rain might be the perfect addition to your family.

Spirit

  • Spirit is a lively, playful sweetheart who’s guaranteed to brighten your day. She’s easy-going, loves attention, and forms bonds faster than you can say “best friend!” Whether it’s playtime or cuddle time, Spirit is all in - she just wants to be part of your world. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will shower you with affection and loyalty, Spirit is ready to make your home her happy place!

How to adopt

Adoption costs:

  • Dogs under eight years old: $311
  • Dogs over eight years old: $152

This fee includes desexing, registration and microchipping.

To enquire please ring New Plymouth District Council on 06-759 6060 and ask for Animal Control. An adoption form will need to be completed to assess eligibility and suitability of new owners.
