The stormwater flooding hazard viewer covers the extent of New Plymouth District, divided into its 13 urban stormwater catchments.
Different catchment models have been developed over the years, using different design parameters; for some of the catchments, we know that the information available is not reliable and requires updating.
In the flood hazard viewer, you can check which catchment your property lies in, important information about the flooding information in that catchment, and when we are planning to have an updated model.
We have a flood modelling update programme in place and the first catchment updated has been for Waitara; within the next five years, we are planning to have new flooding information for the whole district. See below when each of the remaining catchments will be available.
The table below explains the details of the stormwater flooding hazard layer currently in the hazard viewer and the date when each catchment will be updated.
