Art in Public Places Strategy

Reference: S08-002

Status: Approved by the Council on 9 December 2008 and readopted with minor amendments on 2 May 2023.

The vision behind the Art in Public Places Strategy is for the New Plymouth District to be recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in public art. Art works in public places will be high quality public amenities that celebrate and enhance local culture, heritage and the environment.

Light of the land

The New Plymouth District Art in Public Places Trust has been established to deliver this strategy. The Trust is independent of NPDC. More information about the Trust is available on the Art in Public Places Trust website.

Note: NPDC has also adopted a procedure for the placement of public art on Council owned land. Please contact us for a copy of the procedure.
